For all of the Trump administration’s lies, the Trump era has introduced a strange new brand of truth-telling among White House officials. For example, Ben Carson recently described what an attack on the US electrical grid would look like, and it’s not pretty. In Carson’s opinion, America would looklike the 2013 movie The Purge .

According to a new report in the Washington Post , Dr. Ben Carson, the neurosurgeon turned Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, made the comments at a party around Christmas.

From the Washington Post :

“Did you know,” the secretary of housing and urban development asked his acting chief of staff, Deana Bass, at a Capitol Hill holiday party, “that if North Korea detonated a nuclear weapon into our exosphere, it could take out our entire electrical grid?”

Bass shook her head.

“What’s that movie where there’s complete lawlessness and anarchy for one night a year?” Carson said, calmly resting his right hand over his left. “ ‘The Purge’! It will be like ‘The Purge’ all the time.”

To which I have to say... where’s the lie? Also... do you think Ben Carson actually watched The Purge ?

Carson is apparently a fan of frequently comparing our own world to that of dystopian fiction. And I honestly have to say that he may be one of the few Trump officials making any sense these days. The only part that Ben Carson seems to be forgetting about The Purge is that it’s largely about the rich slaughtering poor people who can’t defend themselves.

A war with North Korea would be absolutely catastrophic, not least because it would pull near-peer adversaries like China and Russia into the conflict. There’s no such thing as a clean war, and if reports that President Trump wants to pull off a preemptive “ bloody nose ” attack on North Korea are accurate, things could get really messy really quickly.

We saw precisely the kind of real world panic that can ensue with that false alarm missile alert in Hawaii last month. People were suddenly faced with the prospect of death and many went into hiding, while others tried to choose the children with which they might be spending their last moments on Earth .

Nobody knows if a foreign adversary attacking America’s electrical grid would really turn the country into a real-life version of The Purge . But here’s hoping that we don’t have to find out.

How to Transpose Data in Excel: Turn Rows into Columns (vice versa)

Reorganizing data in a spreadsheet can be a pain. Especially when you have to make big changes that a simple copy-and-paste won’t fix.

One of the common tasks that fall into this category is transposing—turning rows into columns, or columns into rows.

Without any special help from Excel, that takes a long time. But Excel has some built-in transposing capabilities that make the process easier.

NEW: I've just released brand-new FREE Excel training. You learn about formulas and functions. It's perfect for the beginner .

Let’s take a look at turning rows into columns (and vice versa) in Excel, as well as a few of the things you’ll need to keep in mind when you do so.

If you want to really use Excel’s power for displaying rows and columns, check out pivot tables .

They’re one of Excel’s best features.

Chapter 7: Defining transposition

Before we start, let’s make sure we know exactly what transposing is.

In short, transposing is taking a row and turning it into a column, or a column and turning it into a row . Some people call this “rotating” a row or column.

row and turning it into a column, or a column and turning it into a row

The leftmost cell in a row will always become the topmost cell in a column, and the topmost cell in a column will always become the leftmost cell in a row.

This ensures that column and row labels are always in the right place.

There are a couple ways we can transpose data in Excel. Before we get into them, grab the free sample workbook so you can try it yourself!

Degenerate art , (German: Entartete Kunst) term used by the Nazi Party in Germany to describe art that did not support the ideals of National Socialism . It was also the title of a propagandistically designed exhibition of modern art held in Munich in 1937.

With Hitler’s rise to power in 1933, the systematic suppression of contemporary art quickly spread throughout Germany. Sanctions were created to forbid the exhibition and even the creation of any contemporary art not approved by the Nazi Party; such work was labeled, along with the artists who created it, as “degenerate.” In 1933 this art began to be displayed in defamatory exhibits intended to disparage modern art, and to link the Jewish race with the decline of German art.

The culmination of these exhibits was “Entartete Kunst,” which opened in Munich in July 1937 and was advertised as “culture documents of the decadent work of Bolsheviks and Jews.” The works on exhibit included only a small segment of the almost 16,000 works of modern art confiscated from German museums on the orders of Joseph Goebbels , the minister of propaganda . So-called degenerate works by Pablo Picasso , Wassily Kandinsky , Ernst Ludwig Kirchner , Emile Nolde , and other major artists of the 20th century were displayed with paintings by psychotic patients and were subjected to vicious ridicule by the press and the German people, who attended in vast numbers. This exhibit was designed to contrast with a simultaneous exhibition of art approved by Nazi leaders made up of works executed in an academic style and dealing with typical Nazi themes of heroism and duty. After showing in Munich, “Entartete Kunst” toured to other German cities. In 1939 many of the confiscated works were auctioned in Lucerne, Switzerland, or sold abroad to finance the Nazi Party; the rest are believed to have been burned in Berlin .

fascism: Revolutionary image

…called it simply the “Exhibition of Degenerate Art.” Fascism’s claims to newness did not prevent its propagandists from pandering to fearful traditionalists who associated cultural modernism with secular humanism, feminism, sexual license, and the destruction of the Christian family.
